FRS - Financial Records System

The Financial Records System (FRS) is an accounting software package, which provides a comprehensive record keeping system and a timely and flexible method for distributing financial information. FRS was originally designed by Information Associates, a company based in New York State. FRS is the official accounting system used at the University of Arizona. FRS is composed of four major modules: Purchasing, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable and Financial Accounting.

    • Financial Accounting: Recording and tracking of expenditures, encumbrances and revenue against ledger accounts.
    • Accounts Payable: Process of paying money owed to someone who has provided the University with a good or service.
    • Purchasing: Process of requisitioning, bidding, and procurement of goods and services used for University business.
    • Fixed Assets: Tracking of capital equipment and special collections owned by the University.

FRS is being replaced by the Kuali Financial System. The development and implementation project is in progress.
