Disaster recovery is based on identifying the critical functions of an organization and mapping them to the equipment, people, and other requirements that will be needed to run a particular operation.
Other requirements could encompass everything from office furniture and office supplies to IT resources, including vendors and purchasing procedures. Personnel resources and contact information should also be included.
CCIT developed its own disaster-recovery system several years ago using the LAN version of Strohl’s LDRPS software and then acquired Strohl’s Business Impact Analysis (BIA) software module to help update recovery plans.
The new Web version of LDRPS will allow University departments and units to build and maintain their own disaster recovery plans, complete with specific actions to be taken, personnel requirements to meet those actions, and other resources necessary to restore critical functions when needed.
UA departments and units interested in using LDRPS or BIA software to build their own disaster-recovery plans are encouraged to contact Carlos Armijo, the LDRPS administrator for CCIT.
What will LDRPS do for my department?
