Who has Access

Accounts are available for UA staff whose departments are programmers and users of MVS applications. To obtain some of the necessary software, staff members will need their UA NetID.

 

Your Account

Administrative and Instructional Support assigns and sets up MVS accounts for departmental data stewards. Contact information:

Account Password

Your MVS password is initially assigned by Administrative and Instructional Support. You should change it immediately, following the password guidelines. Some of the guidelines below are mandated by the RACF's password policies; some are simply recommendations for the sake of security.

 

Password Rules and Guidelines

 

- Expire every 45 days with 7-days advance warning

 

- Must not be a recently-used password

 

- Must be 8 characters in length

 

- Upper and lower case are allowed

 

- At least one uppercase alphabetic or national character, one lowercase alphabetic and one numeric character are required, in any position. (National characters are #@and $)

 

- Minimum days between password changes is 5

 

- Don't base it on your name or other information which someone could guess about you

 

- Use caution with the number zero (looks like letter "oh") and number one (looks like lowercase "el")

 

- After 6 consecutive, failed log-in attempts, your account is locked. Contact Account Administration for re-instatement.
